PB Bars:
The preference is how you want your frosting. Or, if you want to melt Milk Chocolate chips in the microwave and serve on top.
Mix the following in a large mixing bowl:
2 cups of crushed graham crackers ( when you buy a box of grahams there are
three individual packages in the box; 1 and 1/2 is usually two cups. I put
in a gallon ziplock to crush them)
3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup melted butter or margarine
1 cup peanut butter (either creamy or crunchy; i prefer crunchy)
Once mixed good, press into a 9X13 cake pan. place in the fridge to chill
while you prepare the frosting.
The original recipe calls for using semi-sweet chocolate chips. Melt a
whole bag of the chips and pour/spread over the top of the chilled PB
mixture. Then put back in the fridge to let the chocolate harden.
Chocolate frosting:
Homemade chocolate frosting tastes so much better than that ready made kind you buy in a can, although that is good when you don't have time, but really, it's pretty easy to whip up some frosting of your own with this recipe.
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups powdered sugar
Directions
In a large bowl, combine butter and cocoa; beat until well mixed. Add in the milk, vanilla and salt; beat until smooth. Gradually beat in the confectioners' sugar until frosting is smooth and creamy. Add more milk if you want a thinner consistency.
=
mix with beaters until mixture is creamy. add milk if necessary. Then add
4 cups of powder sugar, one cup at a time, while adding a little milk to
get the right thickness of frosting. This batch of frosting is a little
too much for PB Bars, I usually only use 2/3 of the frosting.
